Jayden’s First Primary Talk

Jayden was asked to give a talk in Primary today. This was his first time. Even though he was prepared, he clung to me for the first couple minutes and didn’t want to say it. Eventually, he did it and did wonderfully.

Jayden’s Primary Talk Oct. 25, 2009

“Good Morning Friends. My name is Jayden Udall. Today, I am giving my talk today on how “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” teaches us how to be a happy family. Here is a picture of my family: (Show picture)

In the 7th paragraph of “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” it says: “Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.”

To be a happy family, my family has Family Home Evening, we say family prayers, we eat dinner together, and we read the scriptures together.

The following are ways I can help our family be happy: If brothers get hurt, I will help them. I can get my Dad a tissue when he needs one. I can hold my Mom’s hand when she gets a shot. I can share toys with my brothers and get them a toy to play with if they are sad. After my new brother is born, I can help him to be happy by getting him a blanket when he is cold. I can send Nanny a package that says: To Nanny, from Jayden, I love you and I miss you. Inside the package, we can put a necklace that I made.

The scriptures tell us how to be happy. In JOHN chapter 15 verse 12 it says: “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”

I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true. Heavenly Father created families so that we can be happy. We can help our family to be happy when we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

Sneak Peek of Baby

4D Baby 1Today the ultrasonographer surprised me with a 4D picture of our baby boy. He is beginning to look like the 3 other boys with a button-nose and pucker-lips. I am measuring at 25.5 weeks and he is growing right on target. I also had my glucose screening test today.

Religious Freedom Is Being Threatened

Here is an important point made by Elder Dallin H. Oaks in a recent article titled:

Apostle Says Religious Freedom
Is Being Threatened

“Religious values and political realities are so interlinked in the origin and perpetuation of this nation that we cannot lose the influence of Christianity in the public square without seriously jeopardizing our freedoms,” Elder Oaks concluded. “I maintain that this is a political fact, well qualified for argument in the public square by religious people whose freedom to believe and act must always be protected by what is properly called our ‘First Freedom,’ the free exercise of religion.” - Elder Dallin H. Oaks, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Nightly Scripture Study

We have been making a huge effort to read the scriptures together as a family each evening. I can already see the blessings we are receiving from doing this. We only just finished the First Book of Nephi. We are using a small scripture reading chart and J enjoys filling in a rectangle each time we complete a chapter. I usually have L and N repeat after me for a couple of verses and J can read many out loud by himself.
